Dear GOP…

Dear GOP: What did you expect?
We voted you into office to repeal Obamacare. What did you do? Passed the Omnibus bill that funded it and thought we wouldn’t notice.
We voted you into office for health care reform. What did you do? You stuck us with the exact same health care plan that people are now paying through the nose for (including exorbitant tax penalty fees for those who can’t afford it- by the way, that’s a great help to lower class people– making them give money to the government when they can’t afford to buy this “affordable health care”– well played) while simultaneously keeping your own wonderful health care packages that none of us have access to.
We voted you into office to lower our taxes. What did you do? Passed bills that effectively raised them.
We voted you into office to get a handle on the out of control spending and runaway debt of our government. What did you do? You voted to spend more and put us further into the financial hole that will likely be around for my great grandchildren.
We voted you into office because you vowed to stop the left wing, socialist agenda. What did you do? Nothing. You have the majority and you’ve done nothing with it. In fact, nearly two years later I still hear you talking about what you’re “going to do.”
You say one thing and then do another and then act surprised with the results of this year’s election.
Remember 1994? Remember Newt Gingrich? Remember the “Contract With America” and the sweeping Republican takeover of Congress? Do you remember WHY that happened? You laid out an agenda of what you would do to stop the left wing policies of then President Clinton and the American people voted you into office and then (pay attention here!) you actually DID what you said you would DO. President Clinton had no choice but to work with the GOP Congress (very much as President Reagan did with a Democratic Congress) and in doing so we experienced the largest period of economic growth in our country’s history– simply because you did what you SAID you would do.
But now you seem to have forgotten “We the People.” You have forgotten this simple truth: WE are YOUR bosses, not the other way around. You make sweeping promises and then don’t deliver. You say one thing, then do another. We’ve been begging for change and only gotten the same thing from you. And we’re tired of it. We’re mad about it. We refuse to put up with it any longer.
Take this climate you created and add in a candidate who will not be controlled by anyone. I’m not here to debate his morality or his qualifications. I’m simply saying that’s how that candidate became the front runner. NOT because America is rejecting conservative philosophies or their moral compass or embracing socialism or any other “ism.” It’s for one simple fact and one fact alone: Because nobody believes you anymore. Nobody believes you will do what you say you will do. It started as a cliche and a joke about Congress and now it’s become a label. The problem is the label fits. Your approval rating rides right around 14% and YET…. you continue to do what you’ve always done and expect us to keep paying for it. If you were an employee at any other business, you’d have been fired long ago with that type of ineptitude. You act like children and name call and blame each other rather than civilly debating and coming to a compromised solution.
It’s also funny because when the current GOP frontrunner was asked if he would support the GOP candidate if he didn’t get the nomination he said no and was “booed” for it. It seems that he should’ve asked you that question because now you’re getting a candidate you know you can’t control and you’re desperately fighting it. And I’ll say it here: the GOP frontrunner was not my choice for President. But we’re here now because of YOU and your incompetence.
And consider this: the Democratic frontrunner should have been a shoo in but instead she’s lost states to a socialist. Get that? A socialist! In America! The bastion of capitalism and the free market. Why? Because nobody trusts her either.
So, whereas you expected the rest of America to operate as you do in Washington (more of the same and pay us extremely well for it) America is strongly voting for CHANGE. The change you promised us is leaving the average American with just that left in their pocket: change. I heard somebody say “America doesn’t work anymore.” That’s not true. YOU don’t work anymore. You didn’t do your job. The people we’ve elected don’t do what they’re supposed to do nor what they say they’ll do. They do or say anything to get elected and because of that, this election has become the year of “Elect an outsider because it can’t be worse than what we have now.” The fact that you have the audacity to call someone a “con artist” or “fraud” has got to be one of the greatest hypocrisies of our modern age.
“con”- kän/ informal. verb
1. persuade (someone) to do or believe something, typically by use of a deception.
^^ That sounds just like Congress to me. How about you? ^^
So I blame YOU, Congress, for doing nothing. I blame YOU, GOP, for not doing what you said you would do. YOU did this to this election. So do us all a favor now, please: STOP WHINING. Do what you should have done in the first place: your JOB. You ran for it and promised us you’d do it. Now… do it! Quit trying to manipulate America and respect their wishes. We’re way smarter than you think we are and we’re sick of your lies.
Your bosses are watching you. And we’re all mad as hell.

Why aren’t they doing their jobs? Because they can’t get ANYTHING done without the approval of their peers. Without their votes nothing gets passed. There are far too many votes swapped and favors done out of necessity to accomplish even one bill especially when a life long career is made out of being a politician. Think how much power in voting favors a 30 year politician has! Let me offer just two words as a small step toward a solution: TERM LIMITS!

I couldn’t agree more. There is a grassroots movement working towards that very thing. Stay tuned.

Excellent! My sentiments exactly as well as I believe the sentiments of millions of conservative Americans. May this letter be seen seen by the members of the U.S. Congress. Thank you!

Well stated Ken Hartley!!! GOP must be fair with EVERY Candidate or risk losing our Nation to people that are either Socialist or continuation of Liberal Progressive agenda. Dividing, berating, fighting, name calling, getting large groups to not support the GOP Frontrunner is degrading, disturbing & destructive. Very likely they will lose their party to American voters who don’t trust this Gov’t or the GOP party ever again. I, for one, will not tolerate a sleeping Congress, Senate & House of Representatives….that I helped Elect to change the regime in our current Gov’t. They promised when they were elected. There will be people voted out of their career jobs by angry Americans and this disappointing lack of solidarity of a Frontrunner Candidate (though I did vote initially for another Candidate)…I will support this Candidate, because it is the ethical, moral, and right thing to do. Again, well stated Ken Hartley! I agree with your message.
